Dear colleagues,

It is a great honour to invite you to participate in the VIIIth International Conference on biology of plant cells in vitro and biotechnology that will be held in Saratov, Russia (Sept. 9-13, 2003). The Conference is the next in a series of Conferences begun in 1968, which were held in Moscow, Kyiv, Yerevan, Kishinev, Novosibirsk and Almaty. The previous Conference took place in Moscow in 1997.

Scientific programme:
  • Basal metabolism of cultured plant cells
  • Secondary metabolism of cultured plant cells
  • Control of plant cell morphogenesis in vitro
  • Peculiarities of somatic plant cell populations during long-term culturing
  • Plant cell cultures as model systems in research of biological processes
  • Collections of plant cell and tissue cultures and the methods of gene pool preservation
  • Production of biologically active substances via nontraditional technologies
  • Plant cell selection and somatic hybridisation
  • Genetically transformed isolated organs and whole plants
  • Healthy plants and mericlones
The scientific programme will be composed of a number of plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations.

Venue of the Conference
The Conference will take place at one of the Hotel, located on the picturesque bank of the Volga River. An interesting cultural programme including excursions and evening performances will be organised for participants.

Abstract of your presentation should comprise: title, authors, addresses (including e-mail) and the text of the abstract. Abstract should be in English and arranged as one A4 page of single-spaced 13pt Times New Roman text with 2-cm margins all around.
